Some users on the IUB (Bloomington) campus are experiencing intermittent difficulties accessing wireless network services, including the Internet, email, VoIP clients, and others. Administrators are working with the vendor to restore service to normal.
Services affected include: IU Secure and eduroam .
Since fall semester classes started at IU Bloomington, some wireless (Wi-Fi) users have been experiencing random disconnects, mostly during high traffic times (10am-2:30pm), in administrative and classroom buildings. Most of the time, connectivity is resolved on its own.
We have narrowed down the issue to the supporting Wi-Fi infrastructure. However, other issues can also impact Wi-Fi, but they become harder to pinpoint until we resolve this random disconnect issue. Campus Networks engineers have been fully engaged with our wireless vendor to implement a resolution and hope to resolve all issues fully and quickly.
We are also addressing the long-term increasing demand for Wi-Fi. This summer, Campus Networks started a year-long project to replace the entire wireless network infrastructure, including access points and the hardware that manages the wireless environment.
